The Reconstruction period is frequently taught as a time of “failure,” when, in fact, Blacks and American Indians worked to create, strengthen, and form communities while seeking educational opportunities and exercising civil rights. Still, Reconstruction was imperfect and curtailed. Governments’ efforts were uneven in addressing the needs of formerly enslaved people and political, economic, and social backlash against Reconstruction ideals and policies flourished. Explore this period of history, which continues to have impact today.

Join us for this workshop that combine historical content with classroom applications. These work-at-your-own-pace online workshops are geared for educators and for those seeking to earn continuing education credits. Each workshop offers the opportunity to earn up to forty contact hours with options for general education/social studies; digital learning competency; and/or reading/literacy credits.
