The Government and Heritage Library celebrates the study, understanding, and appreciation of North Carolina’s cultural heritage; and provides library resources and services that support the operational needs of state government agencies.

The Genealogical Services section offers an extensive collection of published materials including family histories, published abstracts, and county, state and federal records.

The North Carolina Digital Collections contain more than 29,000 historic and recent photographs, state government publications, manuscripts, and other resources on topics related to North Carolina. The Collections are free and full-text searchable, and bring together content from the Archives and Library of the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources.
